Nice Facilities; Lots of Annoyances

The apartment complex and the unit itself are beautiful. There's nothing more to say on those two subjects.
Noise is a significant problem. The units are arranged very well so that you don't hear your next door neighbors, but I've never had worse noise from upstairs neighbors. We can hear talking, walking, bathroom use, and often wake up to a loud squeaky ceiling in the middle of the night when he has a girl over. This is why we won't be renewing our lease.
There is plenty of parking, but I was unlucky enough to be put near the Maintenance shed where the staff will block my spot with their cars and maintenance carts. The gates into our side of the complex are often broken, and I've more than once had to come into the facility through a different entrance because of a non-functioning gate.
The last problem is the sheer cost of the apartment. A unit will go for $300 or $400 more than an identical unit at another facility. We do feel that our payments are unreasonably high.

I completely agree about the noise. It is a HUGE problem. I could hear the sliding door from my upstairs neighbor multiple times a day and tons of thumping and some weird unidentifiable sounds that moved along my ceiling (and the bathroom noise you mentioned as well) constantly throughout the day and night. I even heard them unloading the dishwasher one day! How weird is that?!!! It caused me much stress. I've lived underneath people before and never had problems such as these. The construction must be horrible between apartments. I also get frustrated with the amount of times the gates are broken.
