I moved into these apartments with my husband after we got married and we didn't renew our lease after the year was out. Yes the grounds are pretty and the pool and jacuzzi is nice but over all its just like every other apartment complex. Floors are thin, it sounded like we had elephants living above us, cheap fixtures in the unit, cheap appliances, college students having parties every weekend till all hours, dogs barking non-stop...just what you'd expect from every other complex. Parking is adequate but security is a joke. The gate worked about half the time and the 24 hr security service was impossible to get ahold of when we'd call about random, questionable people hanging out around the buildings at night.

What the real deal breaker was for us was the maintenance. It was AWFUL!!!! It would take days to get things repaired, we had a leak in our storage room and there was water damage. We kept telling management that they needed to bring in fans or there would be mold. They didn't heed our warnings and sure enough mold started to grow. It wasn't till then that they brought in fans, but we had to pay the power charges of having them on 24/7 for 5 days. We were never reimbursed. But what really got me was that the maintenance men would just barge into your apartment without knocking. This happened more than once, one particular time I had just gotten out of the shower and was standing in my kitchen in my towel when two strange men unlocked my door and walked in. It took a call from my law partner (we work in the same firm) for management to even APOLOGIZE for what occurred. To me this was unacceptable action for ANY management company, no matter how much rent you pay (and we were paying quite a lot in rent).

Overall its not worth the rent you pay or the hassles you have to deal with. Prospective tenants: Keep looking, you will find better places to live in Carlsbad at MUCH better prices!!!

I agree. The construction is horrible - I can practically hear my neighbor breathing. Just regular walking sounds like they are stomping from room to room. Security gate is broken about half the time, like this person said. Might as well not have one. Management said people barge through it with their cars and break it. So...if they are doing that, make it stronger!!!!!! I live there with reduced rent, but even then, it's $1000/month and that's borderline for being worth it. The regular prices are a joke. They just told us they're raising the trash rates to $16.50/month or so. Total rip-off especially for a one-bedroom apartment.
