GREAT LOCATION...but...

The location is awesome. Very close to the beach, yet nicely tucked away from the village traffic...but close enough to walk to. It's hard to get hold of the office staff...I think there's only 1 person who works in there...and she's gone even when the office hours posted on the door say they're open. Leaks are a problem, which lead to mold...which lead to health issues. It's a good idea to keep as many windows open as you are comfortable with. When things need to get fixed, there's only one old dude who comes and tries to fix everything... the idea of having one old guy be the only one to fix 50 apts is confusing to me...but I guess that's how they save money on maintenance-men. The rent has gone up...but not like the usual rent increases you would normally see (such as a $25-$50 increase per year)...these increases range from around $100-$250 MORE!!! The buildings are old, and they try to make the outside look more aesthetically pleasing by painting it a new color and adding some plants and flowers, but that doesn't make up for the internal problems that you DON'T see from the street! Old leaks, mold, cracks, and holes appear to be simply "painted" over and "forgotten".
The neighborhood is quietly, parking is ok, depending on the time of year...(summer is obviously more crowded than other less-beachy seasons), and there's plenty to do around here. There are tons of restaurants, bars, and little shops to visit and the people-watching is great.
Overall, it's not a bad place to live...if you can deal with living with a huge, unfinished gaping hole in your ceiling that won't be fixed for about 3-4 months. Other than THAT, things seem to be calm, cool, quiet, and breezy 'round here.
If you're willing and able to pay for it, the beach area is the place to live!
