small rooms, overpriced, bugs and rats

When we transferred to SoCal; it was the only property that had units available and would allow large dogs. After living in Motel 6 for a month looking; we jumped on it. Sometimes I wish we had stayed in Motel 6. I will say that there isn't a better location in the area. It is the most beautiful area in San Diego area and conveniences to everything can't be beat. The buildings are fairly well maintained as are the apartments although my MAJOR complaint was the ANTS and RATS that plagued us the entire time we lived there. When we complained to management; their response was: "this is Southern California, get used to it" yet they never did anything to alleviate the problem and when we bought our house in Temecula, we never had the problem again so this isn't a "SoCal" problem, It's a "SFR" problem. In fact, the apartment had that odor of rat droppings and to me this is totally unacceptable Anywhere, let alone in an upscale apartment. The amenities were pretty nice compared to some properties we've lived in and the staff was always professional although be prepared to pay to replace the carpet when you move out if you have a pet. We left the carpet in the same condition as we found it yet we got a bill for 1100 when we moved out. Admittedly we have a large dog although he sleeps all day and would never soil the carpet. One of our neighbors had a pomeranian and they got the same bill as did another old neighbor with a cat. Guess it's just their way of doing business. The rooms, particularly the bedrooms are way too small for any modern furniture so if you have a king size bed; be prepared to put it in a corner. Would I recommend this place'' at about $250.00 less a month, yes if they took care of the vermin problem but for what you get at these rates (and this is for that neighborhood as a whole) look toward Temecula or Murrieta. Much better balue for the $$.
