I've lived in my apartment for almost 10 months, I have a 5 year old step daughter and a baby on the way. ALl of our neighbors, have experienced mold in their apartments which the management refuses to deal with! We've found mold painted over in our living room. I have researched the effects of mold and tried to get out of the lease, however the office staff refuses to deal with me.

Maybe mold comes standard for some if they don't practice the suggestions that the office staff informs us of when we sign our lease. It's not rocket science to figure out that we live by the ocean and a lagoon and that mold or mildew is a fact of life. I also live in the community and have never had an issue. So not all of the above neighbors that the above resident mentioned have mold or mildew. When I signed my lease there was a Mold Addendum that basically said that I was responsible for my apartment and for doing things on an ongoing basis to PREVENT any mildew from appearing. Such as using my stove and bathroom fans, opening windows to ventilate, keeping furniture a little away from the walls for air circulation, and cleaning with a bleach solution. Again...not rocket science.

Well, this posting by kmlloyd is obviously a management post. No one goes over the lease with you, they just want you to sign it quickly and get you out of the office. Trust me. Tell me just how many people not in the apartment leasing business could quote all the above off the top of their head. None that I know of and I have many friends that live in apartments.
