Depends on Who You're Living By

CONS:
Dog friendly means dog droppings everywhere. One neighbor has a small yard and it's just all dog crap you have to smell until it's cleaned. Cigarette butts all over and disrespectful neighbors just looking to get drunk and party all night. Weekends are especially bad with all the bars on Grand. This is just in my section of the apartments though so who knows what it's like in other parts.
The apartments are old 1960s-ish I think I was told. There's no proper closet in my unit so nowhere to put a vacuum or other such things. The bedroom has a small coat closet. The hallway has shallow cabinetry that doesn't really help much. However this is just my unit I don't know what others are like. The walls between units are paper thin so you get to argue, have sex and party with your neighbors at all times. They'll tell you A/C isn't necessary but that's wrong in my opinion. My place is always a lot hotter than outside when I come home from work. If it's a hot summer day nothing will help! All my neighbors smoke and leave butts on the ground and if I want to get some breeze to cool it off I have to breath all the smoke.
They have termite problems like most old buildings near the beach. However it's bad in my unit. Their droppings fall onto my stove and in my bathroom.
Gym is small and has aging equipment. I notice a lot of people don't clean up after themselves, ie bring a towel to wipe down sweat or cover seats etc. Beware staff infection!
Laundry room is a joke as it's basically the room for the hot water heater with two washers and dryers in it. Two washer and two dryers for 6 units and most have two people living in them if not more. Better off going to a laundry mat if you want it done in a timely fashion. Often people leave laundry all day/night taking up washers and dryers.
PROS:
I love the location and the exterior is nice. Just down the street from the "village" area. You can bike/walk to the beach and just about anything else. Farmers market on Saturdays off of Grand. Location, location, location. Staff has taken care of most of what I asked for to be done. If you have pets then this place is for you as there are dogs everywhere. Assigned parking works out never had my spot taken. Have had my car run into by someone/something and never got a note.
I have a lot of cons, yes, but you can't beat the location. It's a beach culture so it has plenty of scrubs and young adults who just don't care about anyone around them. I was in rush to get a place so I settled for this place which one should never do when putting up good money for a home. You had better drop by at all hours to really see who you're going to be living around. In my time here I've only had one constant neighbor and the staff just wants to fill the units. You will most likely end up living next to Marines...work hard play hard...keep that in mind. So, renter beware who you could be living next to at any given moment.
