Decent place to live, maintenance is excellent thankfully, because it is an old building. Newly renovated hallways look good, and rotting patios are being replaced, but building exterior has rot and has been sanded but not painted for over a year. The lobby is an embarassment with stained smelly furniture, dirty white tile floor, and filthy wallpaper. The units themselves are pretty good, the worst problem is noise b/c the walls are thin and the floors above creak loudly. I can hear my upstairs neighbor snore at night! Some units have nice large patios, and the layout is nice, all have central a/c and washer/dryer hookups but the kitchen is painfully small. Security is not great - bikes stolen from garage, occasional break-ins into cars if anything valuable is visible, one attempted break-in into managers office and another into mailboxes. Homeless person found sleeping in lobby once. Guest parking would be adequate if residents would park in their own spaces, but some residents don't bother and the manager lets them get away with it. Recently the nice people have been moving out, and less then desirable people moving in.

I used to be one of the nice people living here and everything you said is ABSOLUTELY correct!!! The maintenance people were the best, bar none. Yeah that smell and condition of the lobby is shamefull, not to mention the mildew oder in the gym (more like a basement)And yes I good hear where my upstairs neighbor was exactly in his place, VERY VERY noisey floors, very thin walls, kids running and screaming in the courtyard and manager couldnt put an end to that. Oh if your not a smoker, you might as well be one if your neighbor smokes. If you live on the Topanga Blvd side you get to hear all the traffic noise all day/night and if you live on the back side you get to hear band practice all night from the church across the river. Tiny kitchens not much counter space. Security? what security?. . a few security cameras just so they can rewind the tape to see what happened the night before, no security guards at all, way too easy to break into cars and units.I caught somebody smoking dope in the trash room at 2am once. And yes we also noticed that they will rent to anybody, especially the less desirable. It really is on its way to become the new ghetto in Chatsworth. So GLAD we moved out of there!!! Trust me you can do a whole better than this place.

I laughed when I read your response - we caught the same dope smoking punk you saw in the stairwell late at night. I am not a smoker and rarely got to enjoy my nice big patio because my neighbor chain smoked constantly. Just a warning to future renters, this complex is slated to be turned into condos in the near future. I'm really happy we moved. There are so many less expensive nicer options now b/c of the economy.

I'm sad to say I currently live @ the Brookside apartments in Chatsworth and I agree with everything said above. My car was broken into yesterday and I hear that this is common here. We just signed a new lease for one year. I suppose we have to stay until our lease is up and then move. Too bad... We thought this was a nice place when we moved in. Things have changed so much here in only one year. I feel like this is a lower standard building now. The manager Yvonne is very helpful and kind. I feel sorry for her for the job she has to perform here is not easy. Some one vandalized the rec room twice this last year alone. The multiple car break-ins tells me it might be someone in the building that actually lives here. Not cool.
