Don't move here, it's not worth the rent.

When we moved in, we thought we were getting a great deal and wondered what the "catch" was.

It didn't take long to find several:

*The management is rude and apathetic. One neighbor had her apartment flood, due to a problem created by the previous tennant. After sopping up all the water, she tried to find out how to schedule carpet cleaning. The maintinence guy told her to speak to the manager. The manager hadn't heard a thing about it and said "how should I know' It's not my problem, you need to talk to the maintinence guys." Months later, her carpet still hasn't been cleaned.

*The "security" is a joke. Yesterday was the first time in almost a year that I've seen a security guard. One night, the gate got knocked off it's track (it looked like someone had run into it with a car). Problem is, the thing has an alarm, which went off for several hours. After an hour or so, I called the security company to find out where the security guard was. They told me they'd send someone out. To be honest, I buried my head under the pillow and fell asleep, so I don't know how long it was before it was fixed.

Some people don't believe me when I say this, but one night someone was shooting a BB gun in from one of the apartment balconies, out into the parking lot.

*This place is loud! Between screaming children, dogs that won't stop barking, police helicopters circling, gardeners weed-whacking concrete or everyone's favorite neighbor showing off his car stereo it's hard to find peace and quiet. Also, we're not far from Mercy San Juan Hospital and only around the corner from a fire station so there's a LOT of siren activity. I will say that I thought the noise would come mostly from traffic at the busy intersection of Auburn and Greenback, but I was wrong. I've never been bugged by that noise.

*While I LOVE the layout of the apartment, I would never say it's worth the high rent. Especially once your lease it up. I'm willing to bet that most renters got an increase in rent after a six month lease, and I know that those of us on a twelve-month got one. And heaven forbid you don't want to sign a lease and want to go month to month. Our rent is set to increase $90 if we don't sign again.

*I have repeatedly had problems with maintinence entering either without permission or without knocking. I like to be home whenever someone else enters the apartment and have made sure to be home during the times that the management has requested. One time, I was changing clothes in the bedroom when someone unlocked the door and entered the apartment without knocking. Before that, we specifically told the office staff that no one was allowed to enter the apartment unless we were there. We arrived home one day and found a note on our coffee table from one of the staff who had been in to fix something. I called the office to complain and all they said was "oops."

*I'm dreading moving out, especially when I look at the carpet. We started seeing stains "appear" shortly after we moved in. I don't know when the carpet was last replaced, but it definately wasn't new when we moved in.

*The office claims that they will tow any cars with expired tags. It was several months after we moved in that the car parked next to us (which had expired tags and a thick layer of dust when we moved in) was finally given a warning sticker. It was still there days after the sticker stated as the tow date. However, a neighbor had their car (with tags only one month late) stickered after complaining to the management about rude office staff. Later that same day, they counted over 20 other cars with expired tags and no sticker.

All in all, this place is nice enough, but not worth the high rents. The "refurbished" apartments are often not completely redone (ie, old carpet, only certain appliances are replaced) but you'll still pay the extra price. The management is rude, incompetent and unaware of their job responsibilities. Security is a joke. Kids run around unsupervised for hours. Rarely quiet, especially at night. Tiny balconies/patios, with gaps in the wood on the top floor balconies, which means that things fall through to the patio below. They have finally kicked the old cable company, so you can get Comcast. But it is in Roseville Telephone area, so expect to pay more for that. And if you live upstairs, enjoy your air-conditioning bills, since the combo of elevation and vaulted ceilings will surely have you paying more. I would love to stay in this apartment, if only I could move it to a whole different complex... bYr9ljUwtCbMRXE8dRDC
