Yo!

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE

I lived in this apartment complex for about 4 1/2 years. I was very unhappy with the place from the beginning. I have lots of specific stories from living there so long, but the summary is that the management is very rude and uncooperative. The owner of the complex gives these women authority to make all decisions, and if you want to contest anything they decide you have to jump through hoops to get a hold of him. I was told to write a letter to contest an unfair repair charge, and give it to these women to give to him. He is a well guarded secret around there.
Every time I went into the office I received attitude and unprofessional treatment. I was not a problem tenant. I always paid my rent on time, and always followed all of the rules. I would get attitude when I went into the office to pay my rent....so I started dropping my payment in the slot to avoid them.
The complex claims to be gated...but the gates are never closed. When they do repair them, they just break a couple of days later. I had a few friends whose cars where broken into several times. My car was broken into once. The lights are almost never on in the whole parking lot. My laundry was stolen from the dryers (which are monitored by video surveilance). When I reported it to the management, I was told the camera was a fake--and it wasn't their problem. I was always instructed to make a police report whenever anything like this happened...and management always refused to do anything about it. That actually sums up my experience there. They were always on top of enforcing any of the stupid little rules that were in the contract, but wouldn't lift a finger to help out any of their tenants.
All 4 years I lived there, the only trouble I ever caused was having a bounced check. I checked with my bank, and found out it was a bank error. When I told them, they told me to get a letter from the bank stating so...and they would not charge me the fees. But regardlesss of proving it wasn't my fault, they never took my checks again. I had to go through the trouble of getting a money order for the last 3 years I lived there.
I didn't expect to get back any of my deposits (I had to put down 3 deposits to move in), but got back a little over 1/3. The reason I didn't expect to get anything back wasn't because I didn't take good care of the place, but because of my friends that moved out of the aparments and got SCREWED! One person I knew actually got taken to court and sued for carpet replacement---after her ENTIRE deposit was kept. (She was the cleanest person I have ever met).
I believe the reason I didn't get taken advantage of, is because I kept all paperwork, took video at the very beginning and at the very end, I told them that I had done all of this, and had a lawyer ready to fight anything they tried to pull. I would reccomend anyone who moves in to do the same thing.
But better yet, just don't move in.
