Steps to file a class action civil suit against landlords

If you feel that your landlord might be doing illegal rent increases each tenant who
feel this way should file a seperate complaint with their housing department and with all of these complaints combined together you will add weight for a class action civil suit.
Colton does not have rent control.
Contact the Rent Stabilization Board
because they will investigate allegedly abusive landlords.
Contact your city officials.
If it can be determined that your rent increase was illegal your landlord will have to pay you back the full amount for the entire time that you paid the illegal rent increase.
They will also look into alleged illegal eviction practices.
One of the biggest illegal practices is raising rent to a selected group of tenants instead of increasing everyones rent.
Another illegal practice is threating the tenants with an eviction as a retalitory method of tenants who chose to exercise their tenant rights or question landlord practices.
