I've lived here for one year, and I think this complex is great! Like with any place, there are negatives and positives.
Positives: The grounds are cool and shady and nestled in a friendly nieghborhood, a shopping area with resturants, a video store, dry cleaning, haircutters, and a grocery store is only a blocks' walk away, the manager is friendly and fair and puts a lot of effort into getting the neighbors together - she is always planning some fun thing for everyone to get together for (gift wrapping party in winter, BBQ & garage sale in summer, etc.), and the maintenance service is prompt and wonderful.
Now for the negative: Yes, there is an occasional car being broken into from time to time, but that has happened at every apartment complex I have ever lived at. I'm not sure what the other reviewers expect the manager to do about it - the parking lot is well-lit and the manager has offered to organize a nieghborhood watch group. There are signs up in the laundry room warning people to not leave stuff in their cars. I personally feel just as safe as anywhere here.
In short, these apartments are worth the rent you pay for them. They are not one of those glamorous & expensive gated communities in the heart of some snooty downtown. They are just a regular clean, well-maintained, well-managed apartment complex with a great price and unusually good location (how often can you walk to a grocery store').
