I originally moved into the Ashtons a few years ago mainly because the price was right and the buildings/apartments were very nice. At the time the gates worked, you saw the security patrols walking around, the buildings were painted a nice baby blue with white trim, the kids were quiet (due to the security) and the maintaince actually knew what they were doing. Since my move-in and recent move out, the complex has gone downhill. Things were fine for about a year I had a couple of problems with the plumbing nothing complex. Then things changed, suddenly the buildings were painted 3 different shades of "baby puke", the maintaince staff was slowly whittled down to one knowledgeable person which as soon as he trained a couple of lackeys he disappeared too. Not long after we ended up with a parade of maintaince people, some just out of H.S. and others fresh from unemployment. The security patrols soon disappeared and the gate broke, the office staff started rotating around constantly and the police seemed to start showing up on a regular basis.

I agree with some of the complaints of the other reviewers. During the last two years the gates remained broken and security was a joke. Kids started running rampant through the complex, including driving motorized scooters on the walkways. The only pool that ever was heated or well maintained was the one in front of the office. Although I never had problems with the maintaince workers I did hear too many stories of things missing, rummaged through and lights left on that were positively off.

What ended up being the last straw was my lease renewal. Even though I had never been late and never a nuance, they attempted to raise me over $120.00 per month upon my renewal. At that point I had had it and moved. I now live in a small but nice house in a decent area for not much more than what they wanted to charge me at the Ashtons.
