I have lived here since August 10, 2006. Not even a month later, on September 4th, my husband's car (which is parked in a covered structure) had a window bashed in, and his stereo, loose change, and text books were stolen. We did inform management about it. Of course, management is not responsible for car theft, so the only thing we could do was file a police report and make an insurance claim. Fine, done.
About a week after this, we got notices on our door saying to "watch our surroundings" because a resident walked into her apartment followed by a burglar and forced his way into her apartment. "GREAT," I think.
On January 19th, 2007, I come down to my car (NOT parked in covered structure), only to find my spare tire GONE. I call management and tell them what happened. To that she replied, "That's funny. 3 other cars of the same model had their spare tires stolen last night as well." Yeah, real funny. Again, all I could do was file a police report.
Both times I reported these incidents, I inquired about security measures. I was told there was "ONE standing guard and the supervisor who cruises around every hour, and they are only there from 5PM - 4AM." Really, what good is ONE standing guard with a complex that big' And everytime I go out to the grocery store, I see the supervisor in his patrol car in the Von's parking lot, or patrolling other complexes. So that gives a criminal AMPLE time to make a break-in and get away with it.
Another problem we have is our neighbors. They smoke INSIDE their apartments, so it goes through the ventilation system into OUR apartment, making our apartment smell like smoke. It's disgusting and filthy. I smoke myself, but at LEAST I do it outside.
Our neighbor downstairs uses a charcoal barbecue with a huge open flame and uses it at least twice a week. When we step out onto our patio, we can't even breathe and the heat gets to our patio floor. Almost everyone here is either trailer trash, wannabe thugs, or sorority girls. We are up late at night and cannot sleep due to domestic altercations downstairs, the sorority girls across the way who party Monday thru Sunday til 4am, and insist on partying on their balconies for all to hear. Not to mention, our downstairs neighbor is a huge pothead with a pregnant wife and 3 kids who like to run into the street without looking both ways. The tenants here are a nightmare. Of course, there are always exceptions, and have come across FEW decent neighbors.
One thing I do have to say is that the staff is accomodating as they can be. We have had some problems with our bank account since moving in, and they've worked with us regarding rent payments. We had a leak in our air conditioner vent, causing the drywall on the ceiling to get soggy and cave in, and they fixed it right away. The lock on our front door broke, and they came and fixed it within an hour. They've been good thus far, and I have yet to experience a problem with the staff. I wouldn't say they're awesome, but they do try their best with what they're given to work with.
P.S. Did I mention we've heard gunshots here several times before'
I don't even want to use the dishwasher because it's all yellow and gunky.
I can't wait to get out of here.

I agree with you. Although I am aware of some of the incidents you mentioned here, I was not aware of all. I'm sorry to hear that your stay here has apparently been more unfortunate than my own. Thank God I have not had my car broken into yet. But you can bet, I'd probably end up getting arrested after what I'd do to somebody if I caught them! I have become so concerned about security here and fed up with my noisy/inconsiderate downstairs neighbor's 20-something loser son's loud parties and stereo blaring at all times (day & night) that I have decided to definitely NOT renew my lease and move far away from all these ghetto riffraff (includes: white, black & hispanic). The so-called "Courtesy Patrol" come by 1/2 hr after you call them (if you're lucky) and then just tell them to "turn the volume down" and leave. Ofcourse they ignore them & the noise continues. The previous manager expected the residents to handle personal issues amongs themselves first. That's what she implied to me when I first complained about my noisy neighbors. And that was enough, not to even bother with Mngt anymore. Maybe the NEW manager is better but, I am not wasting my breath and giving anyone else a chance. I'll deal with things my own way, if someone causes me a problem! I'm sure there are still a few good residents left and I feel for them too but for the rest of those ignorant, loud, inconsiderate idiots, they should watch out! You never know who you might be dealing with and what they'll do when you piss them off and push them too far...
