I've lived at the Marquessa Apts for years. the first year and a half, I lived in a nice but small one bdrm apt(590 sq ft). I didn't like the location though. My front door faced the garbage cubicle! and the neighbor above me walked heavy, but I am positive now, he had no clue to how loud he really was. Yes, I know what your thinking..you knew where the apartment was located when you signed the lease...true, I did. That apt happened to be the only available unit when I signed the lease. Not to worry, six-months later I moved up to a larger one bdrm apt. The apartment was nice, shady, couldn't hear a drop of noise,until the sun went down. The neighbor above me played his music so loud, I had to cuss the fool out a few times before he got the hint. I like music too, but not at 2 and 3 in the morning! Months later he moved. Now what is that saying...Don't let the door knob hit you in the a-- on your way out! Parking is a b----tch too! A garage does come with the apt, but you'll find most people have more than one car. So if you get home after 5:00pm, you'll found yourself driving around the complex like a crazed manic eying anyone who even remotely looks like they are getting in their car to leave! So think about this when you notice someone staring at you real hard as they drive by. OK, Vons parking is looking better and better! No seriously there is parking in the front near the office. Now lets talk about safety. Be aware of those narrow corridors located between each apt building. especially, if your a women. It's a rape scene just waiting to happen. Now, those corridors would probably be great for filming a low budget scary movie, but, If I were you, and I'm talking women here, I'd stick to taking the long road around the buildings with my weapon of choice(pepper stray)and don't be too alarmed if you run into a herd of abandoned flea ridden stray cats as you make your way home. I've heard they're harmless. Dogs were never allowed until the new manager moved in! She has a dog. How convenient. Now, there has been some positive changes. I do see security now, and the creepy maintenance guys have moved on. Trash is picked up and the noise level is tappering off. Touche to the manager! But, oh how I wish they would quit raving about the pool that is never heated, a gym that has no air with broken equipment, and that mud, I mean sand volleyball pit. But, in Marquessa's defense, I have chosen to call this place home for years. My rent hasn't gone up too bad (a little over $900 for a larger one bedroom) and the inside apartment amenities make it worthwile. Yes, traffic is murder but don't blame Marquessa folks, they are not forcing you to live here. There are other apartment homes in the area. Remember to check their comment boards online and go take a tour to see for yourself. Apartment living will always have some form of drama both good and bad.
