I lived there for a few years. Upon moving in, I changed the deadbolt lock and never gave them a key. If there ever was a true emergency, I figured they'd break the door down and I was fine with paying for that if it ever happened. It never did happen and I felt much more secure knowing they didn't have a key to my apartment.
