living here has gone rapidly down hill

Years at this apartment:

I moved into a 2 bedroom in 2005. The apt was lovely, but the plumbing was crap--literally. The previous residents had wrecked the toilet and it took months of arguing and calling maint. and even a flood on my birthday to convince them to replace it. Very disappointing in that respect. Kitchen layout is stupid-- very difficult for 2 people to cook together.
Having a gate is pretty pointless; just another security deposit (for the clicker thingy) they can get you on. It's broken a lot and people can follow you in anyway.
Staff used to seem genuinely concerned when I was having problems.
*and then I switched apartments* I no longer had a roommate so I transfered ($300 fee) to a studio apartment in a different building on the property.
It's all been wickedly downhill from there!!! I almost feel unsafe even in the building. I've seen graffiti, beer bottles and cigs left in the hallways, and randomly one day there was a hole punched in the flipping wall! I've seen nicer college dorms than this building. My neighbor above me is noisy. I think he's a meth addict and thus must re-arrange his furniture every night. That's the only thing I can think of to account for all that noise. He once had the gall to call security on ME for being noisy and I was not even home. Security showed up at my door at 1 am, about 5 minutes after I'd gotten home. I explained that I wasn't home and they just kind of stared at me-- very uncomfortable.
When I moved into my apartment there was a broken light fixture with exposed wiring that took them a over a week to fix, despite my explaining the fire risk. It also took over a week to get my land line connected. Apartment company kept blaming the phone company and vice versa. BS if you ask me. I just wanted my phone.
Residents in this building apparently think it's okay to smoke in the elevators. Complex has done nothing to resolve the issue except send out a letter which included one line about it being not ok to smoke in common areas. Has not done jack to solve the problem.
My microwave barely worked upon move-in. I had to yell and scream and escalate my complaint to the property manager to get a replacement. For the rent I'm paying here for a cramped studio I would expect working appliances.
Office staff really could care less about me now that I am in a cheaper apartment. I haven't been receiving all of my mail lately and they do not seem at all concerned. I never did receive my rent statement for this month-- ask them if they care.
All I can say is I really can't wait to get outta here and I am so glad to be moving in 8 days.
