High price to pay for a lack of resident respect and appreciation...

As a current resident of the Lakes, I would highly recommend that you do not move to these apartments.
From the moment we moved in there was trouble. We rented a dual master, upgraded apartment, for $2300 a month. Since they had reportedly only upgraded less than 50 apartments, you would think they would take better care of these, or at least prepare them for resident move-in, since they are more expensive, but no. Missing screens, missing stove burners, broken blinds, windows, bad plumbing, and no hot water for the first 3 days of living there were just a few of the problems.
Since living there, we ve encountered smelly neighboring apartments, disgusting and un-kept hallways, trash facilities, elevators, and parking garages, several cars in spots next to ours vandalized (broken windows, keyed, etc.), leaking plumbing in garages (driving through large and deep puddles everyday just to get in/out of garage), rust spots on cars from leaking pipes above, residents parking extra vehicles in visitor spots for 6 months at a time, poor service from maintenance, renovation of our pool during summer months (yes, perfect timing on their part), lack of security from guards (letting whomever in), and the worst is the lack of response from management or leasing when you make a complaint. They absolutely do not value their residents and do nothing to compensate you for your time when they ve made a mistake.
Yes, the grounds are beautiful, and the gym is awesome, but the problems and the undermining of the staff is not worth all the trouble going through to live there.
And now, we just found out last night that they are going to be upgrading the apartment complex. They are remodeling the interiors of the apartments, which is much needed and will be beautiful, but the rent is going up to $3,000/month for the same 2 bedroom that we currently occupy.
I m all for the complex remodeling the interiors, because they are outdated and ugly, but they need to work on their communication with residents, retaining their current residents by actually appreciating them and tending to their needs, and then working on hiring a new staff that is actually helpful and knowledgeable. Even last night, the leasing agents all told us completely different things, I don t think they even know about what is going on. Plus, the apartment complex may have nicer interior apartments in a few months, but they ll still have the same nasty parking garages, same unhelpful staff, same useless security guards, and same overall problems, with the only difference being that you re getting jerked around for even more money than before.
Do yourself a favor, find a complex that offers a little more resident respect.
