Haven't moved in yet and I already hate it.

After dealing with the inconsiderate, cripplingly disorganized, disrespectful and dare I say grossly incompetent staff at this complex for the past three weeks just trying to MOVE IN...I am completely fed up and I don't even live there yet. If I had the option (IE thousands of dollars in disposable income) I would revoke my lease right this minute. First it's very very rare that you can even reach someone at the leasing office and if you leave a message good luck getting a call back (unless they need something from you they're in no hurry whatsoever to contact you), secondly they're so disorganized that they'll "forget" to say, mail your co-signors agreement to the co-signor for signing until the day before you move in but what they won't forget to do is call you (the day before your scheduled move in date) to tell you that they screwed up and that you may not be able to move in after all. When you get irritated by their incompetence they'll be quick to tell you how bad their day is going (give me a break, that's the first "don't" of any basic customer service training) and to let you know that they took a day off by way of excusing their lack of action or follow up...
When I signed my lease I had to repeatedly ask for a copy of the document! And finally the response was "oh, you want it today'", they expected me to wait until the move in day to read the lease. And THEN they "suggested" a rental insurance agent, no mention that they required proof of renters insurance before you could move in until the day before the move in. My suspicion is that one member of the staff is permanently high based on some highly erratic behavior and obvious lack of focus. They also had the nerve to be interviewing a new exterminator right in front of me (the new tenant) at their office one afternoon, and kept talking to him about all the roach problems etc.
The only good thing about this place, they have a 30 day trial period of sorts...if you don't like it after thirty days you can give notice with no lease penalties. I'm writing my notice up right now...

HAHAHAH Thats HORRIBLE!!!!!! I work for the Irvien company and even though we are usually considered the big bad wolves of property management- we don't treat prospective clients like that...this is horrid.

not too far off base...but I'll tolerate it for my last 6 months on my lease then, see ya.

the roaches are gross, but not nearly as difficult as the termite problem I had to get rid of BY MYSELF over the course of a couple weeks. I have no idea how they got inside, but my room was infested, and it is pretty hard to close your window when it's 90 degrees inside your unit and the tiny A/C in the living room doesn't reach your bedroom. I also saw silverfish and tons of spiders to round out the critters.

Isn't it interesting that this person chose to stay and still lives here, even though Avalon offers a 30 day move in guarantee, allowing anyone who moves in to break the lease agreement they've entered into for any reason with no financial penalty whatsoever.

Watch the management CLOSELY while you live there. You're dead on that they will never answer the phone or call you back. But here's what they did to me. Charged me a fee I didn't know about and didn't notify me that I had a late fee (when I thought I had payed by the last pay date) but they never told me. They continued to charge late fees on those fees I didn't know about for 10 months and now that I'm going to move, they tell me I have a $350 balance on late fees for not paying fees I didn't know about.
