I lived in Camden for over a year and when it came time to renew my lease i said HELL NO! I had experienced a lot there- parties every night, breaking glass, fights etc. i had to sleep in my closet one night because of the noise. The grounds LOOK nice but that's because maintenance have everything cleaned up from the night before. all management cares about is the outside appearance of the place. There's a huge list of what you aren't allowed to have on your patio because "it takes away from the community look." with $1200/month for a 1BR, i think i should be able to have whatever i want on my patio. they installed new washer/dryers so laundry became more expensive. they were going to start making us pay for sewage (along with water and trash we already paid) not to mention my monthly rent was going up to $1500. I also had a HUGE problem with RODENTS. i had something (rats, squirrels, something) clawing away in my kitchen cabinets for months. it ate tiles on the floor, it ate through any poison traps i left out, and left droppings on my carpet. when i tried to tell management, i was told there was nothing she could do until next week when pest control comes by. THEY WERE A JOKE. the guy set out a snap trap and that was it. My apartment was super clean so you can't avoid the rodents. There were so many problems i encountered here. it was better than my previos apartment in long beach, but i would have chosen a different place if i could do it all again. One thing that really bothered me was when they did "inspections." We had a notice the day before it took place and it stated that if we wanted to be home during it, to call the office and arrange it. i definitely didnt want a stranger in my apartment with all of my stuff when i wasnt there. so i arranged to have them come when i got home from work and they said they'd call before the guy came. WELL i left work early just to make sure and when i walked in i saw a strange man walking into my bedroom! inspection MY ASS! If you're desperate and you can afford camden, i guess it's ok. but don't sign the 14 month lease like i did. and if you have the time, KEEP LOOKING!
