Wow, this is weird From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 4/14/2008 Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008 1 response   My husband and I moved here several months ago, so I hope we are not jinxing ourselves! We saw the really bad reviews and asked several questions before moving in. We voiced our concerns about having a bad experience and felt confident with what we were told when we moved in. I have not witnessed any of the craziness listed by other people on here with the exception of car break ins. We saw one Toyota broken into in the subterranean parking, but these people always leave bags on their seats in plain view and there were two Mercedes parked a couple of cars down that were not touched. What was crazy was we got home after it happened, and the there were two police cruisers there with a crime investigation van (most cities wouldn't even offer that to vehicle break ins). When they tow, you know why you were towed (no parking sticker, no valid registration, etc.), but I would think that is better than those apartments that let just anything go in the parking lots/structures. I see the cleaning people walking around the complex EVERY morning at 7:45am cleaning the area and picking up trash. The dumpster guys come twice a week, but dont' try to throw big stuff out on Sunday since the dumpster will be full by then. The maintenance guys do not speak the best English, but they have fixed all of our problems on the first visit. We did see two random ants, and Amy (the resident coordinator) suggested we go ahead and have the bug guy spray to be proactive (he only does it on Tuesdays). As far as how ghetto the area is, I have never had any problems walking around the complex. If anything, you are going to see a bunch of drunk college kids. It isn't too loud, but we did know the weekend spring break started. Usually all the noise calms down around 10pm on weekends, so I just laugh off the kids. Our upstairs neighbor has a kid, but we rarely hear him running around. It stinks that you have to pay for cable no matter what (and you will not get a bundle discount if you add phone and/or internet). Parking anywhere in the OC stinks. I don't care where you live, it is hard to find visitor parking. There usually is some to find on the outside of the complex but remember not to leave stuff our (break ins) and that most of it is gone in the evenings on the weekends. You will have to walk a bit, but my friends do it all the time. You can buy extra parking space for $75 a month (last I heard). We really have had few problems - the biggest being the big rain at the the end of 07, beginning of 08. The rain drain on the balcony was clogged when we were out of town, and the rain puddled. We used a coat hanger to unclog it, but the paint had peeled. They repainted within 2 days of us reporting it. I have noticed we live on a floor with more non-college kids, so maybe we are just lucky. I am sure every place has its horror stories, but I really am reluctant to move when our lease expires!
