Everything about this apartment complex, from the management office to the living conditions, is horrendous!!! I lived in the complex for 10 months, and in that short time period, there was an armed robbery, countless car break-in, and the Costa Mesa police department was there every single weekend (usually with at least 2 police cars). I NEVER FELT SAFE!!! My sister's car was broken into twice, the first time the thieves broke her window, which she had to pay to not only replace but to also be re-tinted. There was constant noise from the other units, as well as people walking around the complex drunk, yelling, cursing, and screaming; there were parties every single weekend, and I had the Camden security on my speed dial. Thankfully, I was able to move out as soon as possible, however, the management office has made it difficult every step of the way. We were supposed to be on a month to month lease, however someone screwed up the paper work and locked us into a year lease (which the top manager had to override). Then during our walkthrough the inspector said the unit was very clean and the only charge would be $50 for the carpet cleaning, he gave me a copy of the assessment and told me to "keep it so that they do not try to charge you more." Good thing I listened to him because they are now trying to charge us a couple hundred dollars more for painting and cleaning. KNOW YOUR RENTER'S RIGHTS because charges for anything beyond normal wear and tear are ILLEGAL, painting is not legal to charge for (neither are nail or screw holes), unless they had to replace a wall. DO NOT MOVE IN TO THIS PLACE, and if you are unfortunate enough to already live there, then be sure to read up on what is legal and not legal in California.
