Yo!

Not worth the hassle

The apartments are all right, however getting anything done around here is a hassle. The staff don't really care how much something inconveniences you. It may take a week or more to get things fixed. They keep rearranging the parking, and have taken away the second assigned spot (in violation of CA law and the lease agreement). Parking has been open for almost three months (no assigned spots) while they keep screwing with the parking policy. The parking spaces are small, if you drive anything but a compact, good luck in most of the spots. In the past, they added additional utility costs on to the rent (basically changed the rent), also in violation of the lease agreement and CA law. The office staff is often unresponsive, and requests have to be made via e-mail to get a response. They claim it is a gated community, but the gates have been open for all but a few days for the past several months. This community is largely college students and young adults, so Friday and Saturday nights can be noisy, especially after the bars close. Guest parking is non-existent as half of the people have regular overnight guests (basically tenants who aren't on the lease).

We have had two mice inside our apartment. Camden has made no visible effort to address the rodent problem. We had to trap and remove them on our own. Most recently, a dead mouse was on our doorstep. I asked the office to take care of it, but they blew it off.

The only real upside to this place is the washer dryer in unit, though they are very small. The air conditioning is nice sometimes, but the units next to the windows are loud.

The neighborhood is a mix of single family homes, apartments and commercial. It is a near a pathway between the riverbed and soup kitchen, so dumpster diving is quite common. There are a couple of great parks nearby, and the ocean breeze is great!

Just because you sign an agreement with them, don't expect them to stand by it unless you threaten them with a lawyer.
