Living at Casa de Oro has been a 50-50 experiance for me! The nice thins about it... it is a quiet complex, the neighbors are nice for the most part, I enjoy the trees and the view from my front window, the grounds are kept very consistantly along wtih the pool being cleaned. As for my gripes... RENT of course is number one. This complex is on average $400 more per month than the other complexes in the area, and most of those you will not pay utilities! Also, they recently allowed pets, and although we have told Sharon several times, the owners allow their dogs to run free in the complex(hope you're not afraid of pitbulls!), even going to the bathroom without picking them up! The owners wash pet clothes in the laundrymat and of course if you are lucky to wash after, you will come home furry yourself! The parking is a disaster in itself! by todays standards, the stalls are much too narrow, causing people to decide between scrapping their own car or hitting their neighbors! As for controlled access, not too long ago a couple caught someone breaking in to their apartment... Oh, and for awhile the police seemed to be called once a week due to fighting couples! I have had problems with the closet doors and cabinet doors being hung improperly, I have had to fix some myself! I do admit that Sharon can be a bit crazy and I am sure, wether racist or not, that she does play favorites! Bill, the Handyman is great, if you have a problem, you just let him know and he get's on it right away, but if you tell Sharon, forget about it!

I've lived here many years and Sharon and Bill are the only reasons this place hasn't gone completely to ----. The new owners are a bunch of greedy corporate bastards who raise the rent like it's the latest hip thing to do, and the old carpet that was here years before I moved in and blinds falling apart makes it difficult to understand what I'm paying for. That's the least of the problems though. When the owners moved Sharon to a different facility for a few months, the acting manager didn't care who moved in as long as the apartments were filled. There's the family of God knows how many loud kids running in and out all day long, the mother who chain smokes and cusses at her baby, and I can't even walk on the balconies anymore without gagging from the smell of stale cigarette smoke bellowing out of windows. The new owners suck and once they push Sharon to her breaking point and she leaves, I think I'll leave too

As for the new owners - i'll reserve judgement for now. It may be that they are the problem, or that Sharon was the problem all along. She's a nice enough person, as with Bill, but this was not the right job for them. The new handyman helped install our closet doors and had bathroom faucet fixed the first week he was here...no closet doors and no cold water in bathroom since we moved in 6 months ago. And both he and the new manager are very professional, courteous, and helpful. As for the rent, it is comprable to the area, and to the region in general. The kids and barking dogs can be a nuisance, but you'll have that almost anywhere else you go. The grounds are kept up nicely, and most tenants here are very nice. There are a few problem ones, but again you'll have that anywhere else as well.
