Walk around the ENTIRE community before renting...

When we first looked at this place, we walked around the front of the community. The grass is green, there are colorful plants, etc.

We were told there was a gym facility with new equiptment. FALSE. Most is in-operable and looks like they were made the same year as the apartment complex. We live in the back, right next to the OCC's construction school. I have to work early and they have these huge lights that they leave on until 10pm (but don't worry, most nights they are done by 9pm!) The lights are of course the least of the worries because they are hammering, drilling, nails, sawing as well. so much for my beauty sleep.

The grass is dingy, people don't pick up their dog poop. My neighbor lets his dog poop in his back patio and it smells to hell when the sun beats down on the patio. YUCK. So much for a relaxing afternoon on my patio. Plus he smokes in his apartment, and the smell seeps through to our apartment! NASTY.

It's great that they allow pets. They have a banned breed list, but that doesn't mean much since I see pit bulls all the time around the complex (yes, I know the vast majority of pit bulls are not aggressive, but this really just goes to show how well the apartment community enforces rules!) There is a weird guy that lives near me that just lets his two pomeranians out without a leash, and they just run around barking. Lets not discuss his weird peter pan flute playing.

Parking is really not that bad. We get two assigned spaces for our two bedroom apartment. It does suck when you have friends come to visit because they have to either park on the street, or find a guest spot. Guest spots are almost never available because residents park there, and despite multiple calls to the office they will never ask them to leave the guest space.

The townhouses are VERY spacious, but VERY overpriced. You can most certainly find a better deal elsewhere.

Maintenance' Sure, they will come fix your problem but only after you've had to call the office a couple of times.

The office staff' Mostly competant and knowledgable, until you need real actual help. Jennifer the office manager is not much better.

Of course it could be worse, but it could be better.
