moving out soon and couldnt be happier about that! paint started flaking off the walls, vertical blinds started falling off, multiple hinges on "brand new" cabinetry (i paid extra for "upgraded" apt) broke .... all this in the FIRST MONTH of living here. and you can bet i will be charged out of my deposit for all their crappy shotty work.
The apartment is sweltering in the summer bc i am on top floor and there is no insulation on the ceiling, FREEZING in the winter bc the heat just rises immediately from the vent to the top corner of the apt. AC broke first time using it, and maintenance said "thats just how it is, we cant really fix is but ill try if you want"... wtf kind of answer is that' never got a plate for the spin mechanism in the microwave.. .requested one, got one that didnt fit. Said they would take care of it... a year later still no microwave plate.
neighbors across the hall are always screaming at eachother and slamming doors, constantly having the cops called on them. AND the guy next door to them had his door broken down by the cops, and yet I got 2 noise complaints in 1 night just because i had 2(! no exageration) people "talking too loud" on my balcony one night.
but i think the thing that pisses me off the most about this place is that i pay close to $150 a month in utilities when i live by myself in a STUDIO apartment! im rarely home and you know i dont even use the ac bc it doesnt work! they seem to think its fair to divide the utility bill from the whole building up and make everyone pay the same amount. i never even thought that was legal. i have my family lawyer checking into that and many other things.
ive been told also to photograph and document EVERYTHING before i move out or they will try to screw me on my $1200 deposit. even maybe to try bill me more. anyone had experience with that here' im trying to get all my ducks in a row before i move out. ive been screwed too many times by this place.
did i mention that all this is mine for a rough $1400 a month'
and yes that was a STUDIO

Well, to be fair, there are so many holes in your review that I'm disinclined to believe you. That, coupled with me actually living in the complex, leads me to believe tnat you're lying. For example: (1) The complex only has two different microwave ovens - that you couldn't get a spinner for the one you've got is a lie. (2) You state that you're not home very often, yet you seem to know that your neighbors are 'always' screaming and slamming doors. Those two statements just don't jibe. (3) You state that the police are called, when - in reality - the courtesy patrol is the party that would be called first. (4) Getting two noise complaints (which, again, makes your 'rarely home' statement seem even more like a lie) in one night means that at least two people complained about you - which means that there are two people who can dispute any allegation that you'd make to the contrary. Not to mention that the courtesy patrol would also note your noisiness on their report. (5) As far as dividing up the electrical for the building between the occupants: did you not read the lease before you signed it? If you had any issues with it, you might have wanted to look at any number of other places; two bedrooms right across Adams/Harbor are renting for $1,500 a month. I agree that the apartments can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter; there isn't any insulation and the windows and doors leak air. Other than that ... you might have had your imaginary 'family lawyer' look into the lease BEFORE you signed it, and you might have done due diligence before you agreed to rent here. This is my second time renting at HG. The first time, I got all of my deposit back (and did the walk-through with the manager). This time I expect to get it all back, too. Be pro-active when you leave. Duh.

1) yes im sure i CAN get a "spinner" i simply stopped bugging them about it after about a month of asking im sure the note is till in my file or however they do it. - i shouldnt have to bug them so much for it, i dont need the damn thing so i stopped. my point was lack of follow through. 2) im home about 7 hours a day... that jibes enough to know they are fighting loudly ALOT. 3) so youre telling me the courtesy patrol broke down the door for 13O? check it dude im pretty sure the door is still hanging off the hinges it was as of yesterday (incident was about a month ago) and im sure courtesy patrol was called but obviously the domestic disturbances were beyond them because i have seen the cops dealing with this couple in the hall many times. 4) obviously i was home that night! (2 in 1 night DUH.) 5) yeah big mistake i wont make again. i was rushed through that section. not smart to let that happen ill admit that. when we got to that page the office person i was dealing with said "all this page says is that you are responsible for paying your water, electric, and gas..." dumb of me to assume that meant just MY water electric and gas. i had never heard of anything so ridiculous so whatever. youre right i should have read it through. i do believe it was misleading though on his part. "imaginary" lawyer... ? ha that doesnt even warrant a response, but ill give one, i didnt have a family lawyer a year ago.... so thanks! believe me, wish we didnt need one. oh and i do believe there is a box you have to check confirming you are not an employee. maybe read that one again because no "happy renter" would just browse this for craps n giggles and call unhappy neighbors liars.

Wow they are really screwing you over.. I have a one bedroom for 1179 a month and my deposite was only 300 bucks. As far as utilities go The building I live in has only 8 apartments and we usually have to pay around 130-145. I used to be careful about how long I would leave the heat, air, and lights on. But I really don't care anymore since I know everyone else probably does the same thing. It sucks knowing that my friends across the street only pay 60 bucks a month for their two bedroom apartment for their utilities!!! As far as I'm concerned the mmmmeat person is probably someone from the office. Curtosey potrole is not called every time. I have only called them once and after that I just started calling the police. It took them over an hour and 4 phone calls to finally do something about the people upstairs. I will have to say though that the people in the office are much better than the ones who worked there a few months ago. I am in there so often for problems with my apartment that they have to be nice to me... ha. Other than the staff being pretty cool I hate this place. My boyfriends car has been broken into twice. The people across from me with their stupid dog that barks 24/7 always fling their cig butts onto my porch. The fat-asses upstairs just love to vacumm for hours at NIGHT... usually around 11pm to 12:30am.... They should probably also take a trip to the doctors office because their constant hacking and caughing is driving me insane. My lease is up in a few months and as soon as it is I am out of here!!!!!!
