I am trying to find a new place to live, so I stumbled on this site in an effort to research some of the apartments that I'm looking into. Reading the reviews, it seems like most people come here to vent and to write horrible, personal attacks (mostly with bad grammar and atrocious tempers). I assure you that this will not be one of those reviews.
I can say that this apartment complex is beautiful. I very much like the landscaping, and feel that it has a way of transporting you somewhere else. It makes the property feel more rural than it is, which I consider a good thing.
My wife and I have had many problems with the management staff. Most of the time, it doesn't seem like the left hand knows what the right hand is doing - we'll call for a maintenance request, and the office staff will assure us that it will be taken care of by a certain date. When that date passes, and we call the office asking why our problem was not taken care of, they cannot find a record of us ever calling. It might be best to go down there in person for those sort of things, to verify that they're writing it down.
The apartment walls are very thin. We live in a downstairs unit, and so we are aware that some noise is always going to slip through. However, it seems as though the floor of the apartment above us squeaks with every step our neighbor takes. This is especially troublesome given that she usually comes home from work at 3:00 a.m., and the noise is so bad that it wakes us up and prevents us from going back to sleep (even over the noise of a large, loud portable A/C unit that I bought). Even the side walls allow noise to travel at an alarming rate - if my side neighbor is watching The Office on TV, I can literally turn on NBC, hit the mute button, and completely follow along. I can hear every word on his TV.
The parking situation here is atrocious. I understand that visitor parking is limited all over Orange County due to high land prices, but that is not my complaint. There aren't enough spaces even for the residents, let alone guests. Given that there are over 500 units in this complex, I would expect that there would be 500 reserved spaces (carports), which there are, plus at least 500 open spots, which I assure you, there are certainly not. Even setting aside the lack of ample resident parking, the spaces are so tightly packed that it is virtually impossible to back out if a large truck or van parks next to you. Our kitchen window faces the large parking lot on the property. Several times when we are getting ready for work in the morning, we have heard people back into parked cars while they are simply trying to get out of the parking lot.
I'll finish this review the same way I started. I am trying to find a new place to live. Our lease is up at the end of December, and we are so delighted. It seems harder and harder to find a decent place to live anymore for under $2000. I know $2000 is pretty typical for this part of the state, but step back for a moment and think about it: $2000 is a whole lot of money. That's $24000 per year for rent, when a large fraction of people in this country don't even EARN that much in a year. There's a lot you could do with $2000 every month. Hopefully the management companies will start realizing this and actually make their properties worth living in. I can tell you from two years of experience, this complex certainly is not.
