A pretty long, but honest review of MVCM

My husband and I moved here about two months ago. We decided it's time for more space, so coming from a 397 square foot apartment; it was very nice to have a 1,050 square feet. The extra bathroom is awesome too. I jsut wish I could have read reviews first, because they are 95% true. First off, though, is the esitmater here for rent prices are NOT ACCURATE at all. I pay $1,400.00 a month for a one bedroom den with a full and 3/4 bathroom.
Here is my honest opinion of the property:
-It s nice to have an assigned parking spot, however mine is two buildings over from where I live and its difficult coming home with groceries. I don t want to block other people s spots, so I have to make multiple trips if I don t have my husband with me.
- The open parking area is terrible, and seeing as my husband has to drive a truck for work it s super difficult to park. We have to back in to all the spots, because if we didn t it d take 15 minutes and two people to back out.
-I only have guests over on weeknights, because if they came any other night there wouldn t be anywhere for them to park. And forget having a nice bottle of wine to enjoy, because no one wants to drink and drive and they can t exactly stay over night when we all have to be at work early the next morning.
-It s nice the property is gated, but the gate on Fair Drive for the main parking area hasn t closed in over a week, which does not make me feel safe. Also, the past week, someone has been parked in my friend s assigned parking spot early in the morning. He leaves at 4:30 to get to work, and we leave at 5 AM, and on our way out there is a random car there. We have both notified the office multiple times, but the worthless parking patrol people obviously don t get the memo.
-Consolidated Smart Systems. They are the WORST. Terrible customer service. They made me cry I was so mad. Their installers do a half job, and it takes forever on the phone with the customer service saying they don t understand, but then it magically works fine again. (They send the person out when you re not home. And yes, they get in. I was fuming mad about that one.)
-Utilities. You pay for electric and water, they pay gas. No problem there. What IS bad is their new system, which does not even work yet. You get a notice in your mail box about five days before rent is due telling you how much your check has to be on the first, with combined rent and utilities. That is fine by me, it s nice to pay it all at once, but I do not like the short notice.
-The cats. Its nice people can have cats. BUT. It s not nice when the cat poops in the walkway. It s not nice when you re asleep and the cat is walking on the thin roof. It s NOT nice to open your glass door to the balcony and have a cat try and bolt in your apartment, especially when your husband is super allergic to them. (Didn t think it d be a problem, turns out it is and is not cause enough to break your lease.)
-The residents. We have no children. We are not planning on any for a very long time. The residents here are either college students who take over all the pools on the weekends and make it uncomfortable for others to be around, or parents with young kids who think it s fine for them to draw with chalk wherever they want including on, yes ON, your front door. I m woken up by kids very often, and it s not babies who you can t control when they cry, it s kindergarten age kids who are jumping up and down and slamming into things at six AM on a Saturday. I wake up super early every morning for work, and like to treat myself on a weekend and sleep a couple extra hours. I have not slept in ONCE since moving in, except when I m at my parents vacation house. And the college kids all smoke marijuana and cigarettes and throw trash everywhere, including booze bottles and cans.
-The laundry facility is very dirty, and it s difficult to use. For the 500 apartments on the property, they have 12 open washers. No private, in unit, washers and dryers. It s very hard. And you have to lug your laundry and supplies a long way.
-In my experience, maintenance has been quick to respond and fix. However, they have done very bad jobs and have stained the white carpet with their greasy shoes. I will most likely be charged to replace the carpet that THREE PREVIOUS renters have used too. Not fair in my opinion. And I was not aware of this until after I signed the contract.
-The white carpet. Terrible idea and they will find a way to charge you to replace it, even though many other residents have lived on it.
-The walls are very thin, and you hear everything. And I mean everything.
-The staff is nice, but when you really need something they don t pull through. And if you have a general question they never know the answer. I think its lack of training, or maybe it s just laziness.
-Bugs. They re everywhere. Flies, spiders, ants, silverfish, etc. They don t go away. Ever.
-Make sure you know ALL fees before signing the contract, i.e. the surprise $50.00 for our parking permits, and the $1.50 for washer and $1.00 for dryer. I go to my parent s vacation house every weekend just to do laundry.
-The shrubs grow bushy in cut down the walk way and the trees hang low and hit your head if you're taller than 5/5''.
I don t have enough time to write out all complaints. I can understand how for some people the complex is super, but personally, I have many issues with MVCM. In all honesty, I can see how they make it look all nice and pretty when you re touring the place for the first time and how people get super excited to move in, and then see how truly terrible the experience is. I m counting down the months until we get to move. I will NOT be renewing my lease. I may even just pay the fee to break it.

I took this bunch of crooks to small claims court, they falsified the move out notice I signed. My saving grace was that I insisted on a copy of this document. Please make sure that all the T??s are crossed and the i??s are dotted or they will attempt to take you to the cleaners.
I won my case in Small Clainms when they tried to get all kinds of extra payments from me including an extra month??s rent when I had notified them I was leaving AFTER the lease was up. BEWARE?? in addition on any other extra charges they may apply.
The place was infested with bugs, there were unruly tenants that fouled the pool with glass and shopping carts. We had a gas leak that was not taken care of. We had no hot water for a 24 hour period. One would think that some consideration regarding a rent reduction may have made it better but that did not happen. We had a leak in the kitchen that too three weeks to get repaired. In the interim we had to replace a toaster oven and a bread toaster that was destroyed by the lean. In addition we had to clean the mess created by the leak in the roof.
The shower off the main bedroom sprang a leak and water poured down the for 24 hours, when I reported it they said it was not important and they would take care of it as and when they could.
What a gross place to live.
