I should have known.

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004

When moving out to Los Angeles, my friend Samantha told me NOT to move to The Meadows. She lived there for a year and found it to be a complete nightmare. Another friend of mine had just moved to The Meadows, and informed me that she liked it. I went with the opinion of my other friend, seeing as Samantha can tend to be negative at times. The very first problem was before I even moved into the complex. I filled out the application, and was denied on the spot. This was very odd since I had both good credit and more than enough income. It took a week to get that all sorted out, and I ended up being approved. When it was time to sign the lease, we were rushed through the signing... and told that we did not have enough time to get a second parking spot, but that we would be able to recieve one right away. I have contacted the office on many occasions in the past year about the "second parking spot"... it never came. Back in December, I went home for Christmas, and had my roomates leave a check with the office to be cashed in JANUARY. In the subject, it even said January 1, 2004. The apartments tried to cash my check TWICE before the first of January. I deposit my money for rent into my account a few days before the first of each month. I was left with two charges of $40.00 from my bank, since the check could not be cashed. The apartments did not even have the courtesy to call and say that there was a problem with the check. I ended up recieving a phone call from a roomate of mine, who was freaked out because we had just recieved a notice that we would be evicted if rent were not paid within three days. I called the rental office. They would not even take the blame for the check being cashed early. I was told that I needed to send another check right away, with an extra $50 since the other check had been "declined". There were many other problems in the past year. The kitchen sink overflowed ALL the time. We would be away from home, and come back to a flooded living room. Maintanance came several times to fix the sink, and change the carpets. My shower never drained properly, and the water was never hot enough. People at the complex are too loud. Landscaping starts at 7:00am, which can become annoying when you work until 12:00am. There were too many problems. Most with the rental team. The people in the leasing office were extremely bitchy. To conclude, I am happy to be out of hell.
