Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2002
Living at the Biltmore is like living in a third-world country, except for the price. Over the last two years, we have had to endure constant noise from construction (they are re-furbishing the complex), and frequent water shutoffs to our apartment building, among other disruptions.
The construction is still under way, and any prospective tenant should be aware that they are paying the price of a high-quality apartment but being forced to live in a construction site. The end of the job is always "just around the corner", but I am taking action and moving out now, while I still have my sanity.
The office staff's management of the construction process is horrifically bad. No one can ever tell you what's going on, or why. It's as if a roving band of contractors showed up one day and started work, demanding to be paid. The office staff is completely useless when it comes to giving status on construction.
The final straw was that they are asking $2305 to renew, when I can see many ads for 3BR/2BA units elsewhere -- in more desirable communities (to me, e.g., Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Los Altos) -- many for no more than $1900 (or $2000). One might presume that those units are not enmeshed in interminable construction on-site.
