No integrity at all

We moved from downstate. Even before that we came over to WLV to take a look at the apartments for rent here. They showed us some decent ones and eventually we agreed to lease here. We drove all the way for 10 hours, with all of our stuff, went to the Leasing Department, paid the $200 deposit, and was showed to what was to be our apartment. It was in an APALLING STATE! This was NOT IN ANY WAY the apartments that were shown to us when we agreed to lease here a month before. We were very tired from the long drive, and we felt betrayed. They told us we could spend that night there, and they will show us another place. Tired, hungry, and horribly disappointed, we just left and looked for an inn to spend the night. The next day we tried to contain ourselves and talk to them in a civilized manner (driving 10 hours nonstop to what seemed to be a trap is no joke). They eventually gave us a renovated apartment that WAS one of the apartments that they showed us. Miraculously also, there was suddenly a garage for the car, too, aside from what they told us the day before that there was ABSOLUTELY no space for the car in their garages. We are paying an extra $50 a month just so that we could leave this place at the earliest time (in 6 months). Aside from monthly insurance, we are paying monthly almost $30 in water and garbage services, too. Unlike the previous complaints, though, the maintenance people here are courteous... however, this still does not add much pluses on the wrong done to us when we just arrived here. That, already, showed a lack of integrity in this complex's management. No amount of candy can remove the sour taste this leaves in the mouth. Oh by the way, did anyone tell you of the two fires that gutted out of two complexes here earlier this year (it is only May of 2007, mind you!)' Yup, 2 fires. Am I glad we will be moving out soon!!! If you wish to rent here, do so at your own peril. You can't say you were not warned.

fires are uncontrolable. They can't help if a resident left their stove one. Which by the way did you happen to think about getting more detail before going off. No! It was because some person left their stove on all day long and left their. That is what happened! These apartments are safe and wonderful and I have found the staff to be quite accomedating.

to: squeakie04... please read up on the more recent reviews... seems like fires still are a problem over there. Are you still living at Westlake, or are you living there because you are connected to management? Just wondering. Without any bias, I think that Westlake is convenient when it comes to location, but...when your safety and your family's safety are compromised, then all positives become nothing. agreed? I sincerely hope Westlake shapes up and does a revamp.

HI, in response to the fires, I just moved in Sep 08. There was a fire the SAME NIGHT I moved in! Someone set the elevator in our building on fire. This was no accident! The fire dept and westlake is actually giving out a reward and calling all these fires 'arson fires'. I have only been here a month and I already want to leave. Also I don't mind children playing during the day(I have a baby girl myself ) but there is this one kid who always hits my kitchen window with his ball. EVERY DAY he does this, I thought of speaking with his parents and then I saw his father... I actually felt that he might hit the boy if I spoke to him. He is always yelling at the boy to get his 'A** inside or he'll whip it'.. I cant believe I have a year to go on my lease..
