Most of the reviews are a bit exaggerated, but have some truth to them. It also depends on what area of the Westlake Village Apartments one moves into. It is not like the projects. It is more like some of the people who live in the Westlake Apartments belong in the projects. Their rent is so high, I wonder how some of these people can afford to live here. I moved into these apartments because I was offered a great job in San Francisco and this was my only quick option to find a place to live within two weeks. I am fortunate to live in a part of the Westlake Village Apartments that is not known to many people, including management. It still is not worth the amount of rent I am paying, but it will have to work until I move out. Yes, the apartments do tend to be a bit unclean, but that is due to the abundance of disgusting and inconsiderate people that live here. Yes, parking is a pain, but one will always find parking. The parking space one finds may not be super close, but it is a parking space. I have two cars and seldom do I have issues finding a parking spot. Yes, there is noise, but people need to realize, these are APARTMENTS. The walls are thin and certain unpleasant things will be heard. Unfortunately, most people are inconsiderate and do not care for the people that live around them, they will make the noise they want. I lived in a home most of my life and started living in apartments since 2001. It doesn't matter what apartment one lives in, there will always be rude, disgusting, and inconsiderate people everywhere one goes. I will say this, One of the many things the management at the Westlake Village Apartments should do is give one a parking space to their tenants, especially if one is paying a ridiculous amount of money for a one bedroom apartment. The fact that they make you pay for a parking space is terrible. They should also be more selective with the type of people they allow into these apartemnts. A helpful staff would also be a plus; i.e. security, which one may call and might be replied with a "what do you want me to do about it'".

Go live at Serra Commons Apartments right off the back of Serramonte Shopping Center. Very modern, clean, quiet and well-maintained. The tenants are mostly nurses and professionals. Because that apartment is also a corporate housing for nurses and nurses usually do not stay there long they move around. Try Serra Commons you'll love living here :) By the way, the apartment manager is wonderful :) i've lived here for 2 years. They even give each unit tenant a christmas present and treats all year round for kids - Easter egg hunting for kids, summer barbecues for residents and a band, so much more. Love this place :) i plan to live here for a long time.

I lived at Westlake for a couple years in the late 90s. I had a studio and it wasn't too bad. What you pay in rent is not commesurate to quality but for college students it's livable if you can afford it. These are not new, modern apartments. They're located not far from the ocean so you have the fog rolling in which means damp air, which means mold growing in your apartment. I even had little specks of mold growing on my kitchen blinds on a window with no screen which was true for the bathroom also. One good thing is that I felt safe living there being a single living unit. The noise was unbearable a few months before I moved out because the walls, floors, ceiling are paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING short of understanding word for word of people's conversations. The underground, paid parking wasn't bad but they were retrofitting, so I was concerned I was breathing in asbestos during the construction. All in all it wasn't the worst I'm sure, but I'd only live there again if I were really desperate for a good locale that's minutes from San Francisco.

Yeah only if you desprate for living close to the city, but in general it is not worth the rent we paying. and the type of people who lives in westlake most of them belongs to a project type.
