I've been living in this apartment complex for over a year and a half now. I believe in Karma, so I'm trying to rough it until my lease expires in a couple of months.

The sales people are cordial and awesome, but then of course that's their job, before even thinking of moving to the complex, I would suggest for you to do the following:

1- You're already doing it by researching the reviews
2- Ask for several reference from their current tenants, because I can guarantee you that if you move to the Poincentia Bldgs, you will get a different review than those the leave in the garden view bldgs. Asked for atleast 5 w/ their tenant phone numbers and see how shady they can get...
3- After hours customer service, truly sucks...'Nough Said... If you don't believe me, by all means, move here and you'll experience exactly what the tenants are talking about.
4- Parking waiting list is a year long wait... I didn't get my parking spot until my lease was almost up... Almost like, "uhm, the tenant's lease is up why don't we make ourselves look good"... Even then, there's no guarantee that your car is safe... That's why they tell you to get renters insurance. You will here "renter's insurance" come up quite a few times while living here...
5- If you have a child, honestly it's not safe here, go check the registered sex offenders list website and see how many live w/in a one mile radius... I have a child and because of me not feeling safe, they spend half their time w/ relatives...
6- Management are mean. You have young kids w/ attitude answering their phone and they're RUDE..

I would go on and on and on... And list why this is not the place for you, but hey, like I said, looks can be deceiving... Good luck!!! But renters beware, the sales people are paid to lie and sell, they're not here to please you, they're here to make their commissions. It's not about you, it's about them and money...

I HATE THIS PLACE. I would have put ZERO stars but it wouldn't let me. I was sexually harassed while alone in my apartment by one of their workers. I reported it to management and didn't even get a response. Safe place eh? I should ship the -------s that manage Westlake my psychological bills for the stress, anguish, and emotional strain they have put me through. I have only lived here for 6 months now and I want to blow it up. I was going to post the 25 grievances I sent to the Administration and Management (after only living here 4 months), but Yelp only lets me post 500 words :( Let me start by saying that this place is like paying top dollar for a super nice apartment and living in the GHETTO. Families of 5 or more stuff themselves into 1 bedroom apartments. How can they afford it you ask? Westlake makes its living off of accepting Section 8 folk, which means, while you're scrimping and saving to pay $1495 to hear their brats SCREAM and BANG and BREAK THINGS, they're paying 300 a month thanks to the government. Yep. Awesome. So not only is it dirty as hell, i.e. trash is always in the hallways, in the stairwell, dirty diapers on the floor, rotting food left in the shady-ass elevator, DIRTY UNDERWEAR tied to the handrails, but the walls here are so damn thin I can hear my neighbor cough downstairs. The thin walls might not be so bad if you had considerate neighbors...not at Westlake boy. People here are constantly shouting, booming bass, banging things, letting their kids scream bloody murder, slamming cupboards, having parties at 2:30 a.m. on a Thursday...I mean my god. It's a nightmare. Now in order to deal with these complete wastes of air, you have fabulous Westlake security, which consists of some ----- stuffed full of attitude not helping you at all. IF, by some rare act of God, you're allowed to speak with a human being and not a machine, they will tell you (voice overflowing with attitude) that they'll send someone out right away. Do they ever? NO. We have called, literally, hundreds of times on our neighbors for 6 months now and nothing has changed. Picture living in the shadiest, shittiest, most unsafe neighborhood and the cops never answer their phone. That's Westlake. On top of all that, our water has been shut off 3 times since we've been here. The hot water isn't hot, the stove doesn't work, nothing fits in the small-ass cupboards that were made by midgets, the carpet was stained with paint, there are NO SCREENS on the sliding doors or windows, there's no trash chute and the dumpster is always overflowing, the washers and dryers hardly ever work, there's never any parking, there are fires all the time, robberies, shopping carts left in the parking area, in YOUR paid parking area, and in the hallways in front of your door, graffiti everywhere, the elevator permits are expired, my fianc?? and I were stuck in the elevator twice, water spurts sporadically, the security door you pay for is always broken...I mean seriously, does this sound like a place that is worth 1495 for a tiny apartment? You've been warned people. Please spread the word, and DO NOT, by any means, live in this hellhole.

Thinking of starting a renters coalition. Daly City City Commerce has rated WV top of the list, perhaps we tenants should let the City know how truly bad WV is . But I'm afraid WV has snowed the City just like they "snow" the tenants.
