Too expensive now - pros and cons

Depending on where you live within the complex it could be great or just plain annoying. You might have to walk really far to throw out your trash. However, it's nice if you get an apartment with a W&D. My apartment lies on the bike path, so that is great when I want to bike to school. The only downside is it takes me 15 minutes to bike to school, and it gets annoying to do that everyday. Although, I guess that is just a general location problem for me. You COULD take the W bus, but it's always so packed in the morning that the bus driver may tell you to wait for the next bus. Ants were a problem during the winter, but not too bad. You'll hear the leafblowers everyday, and you'll always hear the birds (magpies I think) in the morning. Also, if you live on the bike path, the sun shines directly into your rooms, which can get kinda hot. Floorplans say the rooms are about 11x12 I think, but don't believe that. They are actually 9x10 (except for the master). As a whole, though, the apartments are pretty roomy, with a large living area and the biggest apartment kitchen I've seen. My favorite thing about these apartments are the high ceilings. You could seriously do somersaults in the air. Carpets are thicker than those of other complex's I've felt, but they are stained. The place was just repainted---kind of shoddy, but still better than nothing. Parking gets bad at night, and since the complex is pretty big, it can be a hassle to have to park somewhere else. Also, they are pretty strict on towing here if you (or friends) are parked w/out a permit. Management always acts nice and they bake cookies and stuff, but the workorders you put in for the maintenance people never seem to be completed. They may check the problem you have in your apartment, but if they say they'll be back to fix it later or to get you a part, don't expect to see them again. Nowadays this place is just too far from campus and too expensive to live in for me. Also, if you want to make a left turn coming out of Drew Circle, it can get pretty dicey. That 2 way stop is my least favorite intersection in all of Davis.
