When I first arrived at A.S., I noticed that under the excessive smell of apple pie was the smell of gas. I told the manager about it and two days later she sent someone to shut the gas off. The heat was broken, and did not get attended to until after Christmas, and I moved in on Sept. 1, 2002. Furthermore, RATS ate through our dishwasher, and it was poorly fixed so many times that it only worked 6 of the 12 months I was there. The management never answered phone calls; in fact, the management was always in her apartment yelling at her 5yr old daughter.
But here's the life threatening part: The electrical wiring hasn't been inspected by a competent person in ages. One night, as I was lying in bed, an outlet with nothing plugged in burst into flames. Four inches from my bed. I turned off the power to the apartment, and the fire went out, but it took a week to get a response from the manager. For that week I had no power to the apartment.
Also, since it is generally falling apart, that includes the lighting. Both my and my roommates cars were broken into and damaged due to improper lighting.
The place was far cleaner when I left it than when I moved in, but they still charged me 150 dollars for cleaning. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!
They are frequently in violation of Civil Code 1942, parts a thru e, and need to have litigation brought against them.
