Years at this apartment:

You aint seen NOTHIN til you move out into the REAL WORLD where landlords are King, not the tenants. We lived at Alvarado when it was almost new in the late 70s. Our only complaint was that the manager was a little late on repairs and had a real attitude problem. My car was broken into and my roommies 10-speed stolen, right within 20 feet of our 3-bedroom, 2-bath townhouse unit. It was rather far from campus for our taste; I gained 15 pounds from taking the bus to class. But the rent was very reasonable and actually went down a bit each year for returning tenants. Thats unheard of where I live now in the S.F. Bay Area. Now, I pay over twice the amount for an older, tiny 1-bedroom apartment downtown with no amenities, not even a dishwasher. It was filthy when I moved in. They never paint, replace the carpet, or upgrade the unit, and if you dont like it, you can move out. Compared to this, A.S. was like a luxury condominium, even though, now that Im an old fart, I wouldnt appreciate going upstairs to use the john.
