Alvarado Sunset Apartments

Generally a bad experience From: elfgirlniko Date posted: 7/6/2004 Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004   Okay, starting with the parking: not bad, there are two lots, but the one I have has at least two groups of guys who like to drink and leave glass bottles around so it gets difficult to park in closer spaces without broken glass. Noise was generally okay but I had a DJ as a neighbor so that sucked. The manager told him to turn it down a few times but he doesn't listen. The grounds were fine, during the winter, though, the lawn guys liked to blow a ton of leaves under my gate door so I had to deal with it. Also, they could empty the dumpsters a bit more often (weeks where it was overflowing gets really annoying). Safty was very poor when I moved in. Hardly any lights worked and I didn't have an emergency phone line. And the fire alarms did not have batteries in them either. I also had one break-in where a wallet was stolen among other things. The general construction was okay I guess, the paint job (not part of fixtures or anything but...) was terrible. Imagine white glossy paint covered in patches by white nonglossy paint. Also, pointy things are coming up from the stairs. Several nice holes in the walls for spiders and such to stay in. Also, the insulation of the doors arent the best as well as the screens, so we get a lot of bugs. (including cochroaches) Aparently they changed the service guy but the last one was horrible. I put in a work order and it never got done. Very slow and I heard when he did show up he did a shoddy job. They finally changed the manager of this complex and she is much better but the last one was incompetent. Though, the upside was I don't think she paid much attention to late checks. Anyway, what makes me write this now is that they gave me a flier today dated the 22 of June for an inspection for tomorrow of my apartment. I don't know if this would bother you but it does me and don't expect much better treatment other than the staff either not giving a care or giving you last minute notice. Also, when my sink was clogged and about to overflow, the manager did not call me back or anything after I had left an emergency call. Also, this is all if you can even get ahold of them which was difficult at times...most times. And as a last note, when I moved in this place was soooo dirty, it took me several days to clean it up (glue on the counter, dead bugs on carpet, icky bathtub, etc. This is why I would not, or really could not, recommend this apartment to anyone. **updates: I couldnt get help with my apartment until the next day which left me open to anyone just walking into my apartment. I shall disclose what happened later. So now I feel like it was very unsafe here due to the lack of concern from...everyone there. The emergency pager people included.
