This place is totally corrupt. They got sued by a tenant for unfairly withholding a deposit, and she won. That made the front page of the Aggie. Too bad more tenants don't sue! They keep your deposit every time, even though they promise. How do I know that' because I'm still stuck here (too much stuff to move!) and my neighbors and people I've met tell me what happens after they move out. Now our manager is Jon Berkeley management located on La Pena in Davis. they are totally corrupt. They deduct charges for normal wear and tear which is illegal. Protect yourself -- get a copy of the book "California Tenant's Rights" and read the section on security deposits. show it to the manager Cora, and tell her you will sue in Small Claims. And then sue.
SUING IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT IS EASY !!!!!

You obviously haven't read the document, otherwise you'd know that you MUST request a pre-moveout walk-through. During this walk through they MUST indicate to you what they will charge you for, but you have the opportunity to fix these things. If they charge you for anything not on this list they are in violation of the law. There is no need to sue anyone if you just follow the code and KEEP ALL DOCUMENTATION.

Apparently this anonymous post is a lover of this apartment complex, an employee perhaps. There is a reason why it ranks at a miserable 16%. I used to live here, these people STOLE my entire deposit, if I had known, I would have sued them as well. I was told after the move-out inspection that I would get a large amount of my deposit money back, too bad they charged me an extra $18.00. Our apartment was spotless. You better fight until the end if you feel you've been wronged.

Yes, that poster who claims "all you need is documentation" is probably the Apartment Manager. The manager might be nice, but the company Jon Berkeley management are horrible. They raise your rent AND keep your deposit. They ignore documentation, they are so desperate to steal money from us. They count on the fact that people are moving away and won't bother to pursue it. MY ADVICE? TAKE THEM TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT!!!!!!
