This place is an absolute nightmare. Where shall I start'

First of all, the walls are SO THIN, that I was able to hear my next door neighbor's radio/TV playing at 3am. I could also hear my next door neighbor talking on the phone, and at times, I could make out exactly what he was saying. If you were unfortunate enough to live in a downstairs apartment, you can hear the upstairs neighbor. When the upstairs people walk around, it sounds like the ceiling is about to come crashing down. When they walk, you can hear your ceiling squeak loudly. At times, I could even hear them sing opera, and their music.

When I moved out, they took ALL of my deposit. They had professionally cleaned my carpet a couple of months prior to my move-out due to flooding of my apt. When I moved out, they charged me MORE money to clean the carpet again. Moreover, they continued to charge me rent (and took that money out of my deposit) after I already turned in my keys. Apparently, they thought it was my responsibility to pay rent while they are cleaning my apt for the next renter.

The kitchen is horrible. There is no fan above the stove/oven, so you end up setting off the fire alarm while you cook.

The hallway is absolutely nasty. It is filled with cigar smoke and cooking smells from various apts. The hallway (as well as the apt) have a lot of spiders and bugs.

Management is extremely rude and condescending. One time I didn't hear the maintenance man knock on my door to fix my fridge. Within a couple hours, the manager (Leslie) sent me a MEAN notice that they MUST enter the apt or else I'd be responsible and pay for the damaged fridge.

The plumbing is bad. Your toilet will inevitably get clogged every month.

The water/hot water is frequently shut off, for DAYS! For about 3 months, the water was shut off every month for about 3 days to a week at a time, WITHOUT any compensation.

Don't be tricked by the apparently friendly manager. She is actually extremley rude!!! When I moved out, I was not given the option to look over the apt with her for any cleaning/damages. She claimed that she was too busy to do it right then, so she will have to do the checklist alone later on that night.

Summer subleasing was another nightmare. Once I found a potential subleaser, they told me to stop advertising for any more subleasers. BUT, when I was about to move out, they told me that I'd be responsible for the whole summer's rent if the potential subleaser did not move in.

The place is so old that there isnt even a garbage disposal.

No central AC so you can only get AC in the living room area, but none in your bedroom. Same situation as the heater.

The bathroom fan also somehow blows cigar smoke into my bathroom.

The place is tacky and nasty.
