The floors are wood, old, and squeak everywhere you step.

I feel sorry for my downstairs neighbor.

On the other hand I get to be very familiar with his music collection.

I can't use my kitchen cabinets without the next-door neighbor banging on the wall.

A couple times a year the management puts out a notice because cars get broken into.

My (locked) bike was stolen from the bike racks on the property.

The "free internet" is generally a scam, because they will block you from using it if you download "too much", without any kind of notice.

I other words, it's only "free internet" if you don't use it.

The internet is NOT in the lease, and I think they're trying to get away with not being required to provide it.

Further, it's one T1 line shared among 160 units (a T1 is roughly equivalent to a decent-speed DSL or cable modem).

The management is unfriendly and spiteful.

I agree with the original poster. I moved out in June 2005 before Leslie the Dictator followed through on her threats to cut you off for using the internet too much. Before I left I disconnected from the internet every two minutes. I decided to connect to a nearby apartment complex's Instaconnect tower. Even though the signal was weak, it was still stronger than the Americana Arms network. After AArms decided to switch networks and nobody could connect, it became pretty apparent that the problem was Leslie and the internet company had underestimated how many people would be logging on at the same time. (I'm sure this underestimated stemmed from Leslie's cheapness.) For some reason these boneheads didn't realize that college students leave their computers on 24 hours a day in the background. UGH. My bike was also stolen, but I blame myself that. I remember several cars being broken into while living there. I had a huge ant problem when I first moved in. I'd leave a glass of lemonade on my coffee table for a minute and there'd be a line of ants from the kitchen crawling on top of it. I HATE Americana Arms.

I forgot about Leslie, the theft, and the paper thin walls. Also the A/C was completely worthless. Not safe. Right off of railroad tracks, but if your a poor starving student its passable. But I do seem to recall them being a little shifty about things like the internet.
