I really can't believe how negative the comments are for Americana Arms! Not everything is perfect, of course: the apartments are pretty small and plain, and the free wireless internet is rather worthless.

But the rent is low, many other utilities are included, the management and maintenance staff are prompt and perfectly friendly, the apartments have air conditioning, great water pressure, nice huge windows, and lovelier grounds/pool than many apartments I've seen.

Noise has not been a problem at ALL, even with the nearby railroad tracks.

Parking hasn't been a problem either.

My two words of wisdom would be:
1.

If you're going to have a roommate, make sure it's someone you enjoy being close to, because the apartment is cozy.
2.

Pay the extra money if you can to get a "courtyard view" apartment.

That way you'll be farther from the railroad tracks and have a nicer veiw.I LOVE the view of grass and trees that I have out my windows.

Most of the apartments at Americana Arms haven't been updated in quite a long time. The bathtubs contain the ORIGINAL TILE. Leslie, the apartment manager, forbids you use blue toilet cleaner. Why, you ask? Because the finish is so OLD on the toilets that blue cleaner would stain them. You'll be charged if it stains. The kitchen hardware is also original, I think. I paid extra for a "new refrigerator" and received one that was from all appearances fifteen years old. (It didn't even self-defrost.) The air conditioner doesn't work if you face the railroad tracks. There's absolutely no shade. At times I found it cooler outside than inside. The windows are old and the rooms are small. The bathroom is in the master bedroom. If you don't open your windows frequently, especially after you shower, you will develop a mold problem and be charged for it. No garbage disposals, which means you'll constantly be taking out the trash, and no dishwashers. I agree, though - do not take an apartment unless it faces the courtyard or you'll regret it.
