Great place-bad neighbors!

I absolutely love my apartment here at Arlington. I have a one bedroom with "den" that's 888 sq feet, and I only pay $790 a month. It's a very spacious apartment for the two of us. The management is fantastic (!) and the maintenance guys are really nice. When there is a problem, they are there right away to fix it. We both have covered parking, for an extra $20 a month, and it's totally worth it to be able to keep our cars next to each other and away from college kids who don't know how to park, or just don't care. The location and the design of Arlington is great as well. They remind me of colonial homes that are broken up into apartments and townhouses. It's nice to drive home to a building that actually doesn't look like an apartment complex. We have a hot tub right outside our door, a laundry room right around the corner, and the mail boxes are just a 2 minute walk away.
BUT!
Do NOT live here if you don't like noise, parties, inconsiderate college students, and often having to wait for hours to do your laundry. Arlington is considered the "Sophomore Dorms" and for good reason. Most of the kids who live here are second years, which means they've spent a year in the dorms and now they have been let out into the real world for the first time. It's a BAD scene for the most part. Depending on which side you live on (I'm on the less populated 1600-2100 side) parties are several times a week or slightly less frequently. And they aren't just on the weekends so if you are a normal human being and work on weekdays, expect parties on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or whenever. It's ridiculous. Expect door slamming at all hours of the night, stomping up and down stairs, yelling at each other across the courtyard, people puking in your bushes, people peeing by your window, people having conversations with each other or on cell phones right outside your window no matter how late it is, people hogging the laundry and not getting it out when the timer goes off (making you wait until they get off their butts to do it), etc. etc. I think you get the picture. And try NOT to get a downstairs unit because I swear it sounds like we have elephants above us, and when THEY have a party, good god! The nice thing is that Arlington has a policy of 3 strikes and you're out, and most of my neighbors (because of us) have 2 already, so they're being pretty good right now. The police are very responsive to any complaints about noise, but give them a fake name and phone number because the college students can find out who called and reported them and there could be retaliation. Bottom line: If you keep up on the noise by being proactive, Arlington is a pretty good place to live.
