Avalon Apartments

I have lived in Avalon for about 6 months now. Upon moving in (at 5pm), we arrived to find our front window broken in, carpets ruined, toilets broken, doors off hinges, backyard trashed, etc. and were told we'd have to wait the weekend. We only got to move in on time by bribing the carpet cleaners w/ takeout to do our unit first (they had over 35 left to clean at 9pm, Brisas and Sorrento included) and illegally taking possession at 1am. They wouldn't give us keys for 3 days even though we had a signed lease. The only way we got our aparment liveable was by going to the maintenance people themselves, who worked very hard in spite of management's indifference. Management is rude, and is actually so bad I'm sure they violate many housing codes. Students run the office, yet have no authority to take any action themselves. If you need something done immediately, good luck. In fact, management is so clueless, we regularly get notices from the front office with our apt. number on it, yet intended for a resident living somewhere else in the complex. They have no clue. However, once the place was fixed up (took about a month), the 4 bdrm, 3.5 bath unit is very nice and the complex is lovely. We plan on renewing our lease, as most of the problems were eventually resolved. Beware of the master bedroom though - in winter time that room does not heat because of the high ceilings!
