Not bad but glad to be gone

The apartment itself was alright. The rooms were big and there was lots of storage space. The parking situation depended on the day. The front lot was always empty, but I lived next to the train tracks and if too many people who could park in front parked in back, the rear parking lot filled up fast. Thin walls and cheap construction seem endemic to all Davis apartments, but Cranbrook tended to be better than most. That didn't stop the sound of a newborn crying every night from entering the apartment. Definately liked the stainless steel sink in the kitchen.
The biggest problem we had was with our front door not shutting properly. We had to deadbolt it for it to stay closed. One night right after we moved in, we forgot to deadbolt the door and yes, it was raining. We woke up to find the door wide open and the cat had gone outside, but fortunately not too far. (He was an indoor cat and was sitting on the balcony terrified) Management "fixed" it, but it only closed properly for a day and started opening again.
Other than that, everything is designed way too low, from door handles to the stove to the light switches.
I'll give Cranbrook credit for making the best of a pretty crappy living situation. My roommate and I were low on funds so decided to live next to the train tracks and save some money. It wasn't *that* bad, and we actually got used to it, but all things considered, it was a decent complex. Good student housing for Davis. I've lived in much worse and expensive. Cautious recommendation.

Very true with everything being too low. Showering was a literal pain in the neck. (i'm 6'1 and the shower head sat around my neck/upper chest)
