Eastlake rocks

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2005
I have rented a 1brm apartment at Eastlake for the past 2 years and wouldn't even dream of moving out. The manager, Billie Bowen, is always friendly and takes time out to get to chat with all of her residents. The maintenance personel, especially Ramon, have taken care of all of my requests within a weeks time. I have had very minimal maintenance work done in my unit, and although the apartment complex is older, my aparment fixtures have held up fine.
The apartment grounds are well taken care of. The management has taken extra care to plant flowers and trees on the grounds. Recently, there have been tremendous renovations to all of the wood fencing in the complex, and everything has been freshly painted, which looks great. The spa is always heated, and there are full sets of patio furniture by the poolside. There is a small gym in the clubhouse that is great to use. There are 4 washers and dryers in the club house, and I have found that I usually don't have a problem with all of them being in use when I would like to use one. Parking is well-lit and adequate and there is usually at least 3-4 guest parking spots open on the week days, and there is street parking very close if those fill up. I have my own carport spot, which I enjoy, especially when the sun is intense during those Davis summers, or the rain is coming down during the winter.
The floor plans are extremely spacious, and all apartments include a living room and a kitchen/dining nook, which allows for sufficient room to have a full living room and dining table set. The bathrooms are also extremely spacious. The bedrooms are an adequate size to fit either a full or queen sized bed and dresser set. There is also a lot of room in the kitchen area to cook and prepare meals on the countertop. Storage space is somewhat limited, but the large size of the apartment units allows for extra bookshelves and cabinets to hold extra storage material.
In regards to the previous review which indicated that the apartments had ants, that dsl was hard to get, and that cellular phone service was poor: I have never had a problem with ants in my apartment, but I do not know of any other insect problems in the apartment complex. One thing to consider is that it is Davis, so inevitably, there are going to be swarms of ants ANYWHERE you live. I personally have had wonderful dsl service for the past 2 years, so I have no problems there. When I originally moved into Eastlake, I had AT&T wireless and I could not get any service (I had a plan that included their GSM 'm-mode' service, not the TDMA digital network). Since then, I have switched to cingular wireless and I get FULL 5-bar service anywhere on the apartment grounds. However, now that AT&T and Cingular have merged: shouldn't be a problem if you have an AT&T phone I believe that service with Verizon wireless is not as great at Eastlake.
So, to make a very long review short: I love living in Eastlake. It rocks.
