Overall, a great place

I moved here after spending a year at the worst possible apartment complex in Davis, so perhaps my standards were a little low coming in. The manager here was extremely helpful to me during a very stressful move-in period, made me feel welcome, and took care of so many little details to make my life easier. He is almost always very friendly and helpful, but I'd have to say, it does pay to stay on his good side. If he gets annoyed with you, he can be a little vindictive (in small, petty ways, nothing scary). It's pretty easy to win him back to your side, though, if for some reason he decides to start being weird with you. Overall, he seems to really care about the happiness of the tenants and bend over backwards for you as long as you're nice to him and don't make a lot of noise.

Regarding noise, this building is located right next to a bunch of dorms and a cute little park. If you live on the ground floor right next to the park, as I do, you're bound to hear lots of undergrads caterwauling out there on Friday and Saturday nights. It's generally not too bad, but can be annoying at times. The manager is good about dealing with unruly noisemakers, though, and can be relied on to call the police if things get truly out of hand. I'm one of those people who is extremely sensitive to noise, and it hasn't made me crazy yet, so I'd say it's not all that bad. The convenience of being so close to campus is really nice, too.

The grounds are well-maintained, there are a lot of adorable songbirds around, and maintenance issues are taken care of with pleasing alacrity. Small pets are welcome (with an extra deposit), and most of the other tenants I've met have been very friendly. Some people think the laundry facilities are lacking, but I've rarely had any problem finding a couple machines available, even on weekends. There is ample storage space and good light, and despite the dorms, it's a nice neighborhood. The main problem I have here is parking for guests -- during the week, there are so many undergrads parked on the street, your visitors may have to park over at the shopping center. Weekends tend to be better, unless it's finals week or there's something fun going on in Davis like Picnic Day. Tenants do get one reserved spot in the lot, so at least you're guaranteed parking for one car. I've been quite happy living here and definitely recommend it.
