I've only lived here half and year and have found that despite the somewhat hilarious events, this apt. complex is quite homey. Everything is functional and the room sizes are quite generous. Move in was a little annoying because we couldn't move in until two weeks after most apt. complexes end their leases (didn't know we could arrange way ahead of time to move in earlier). Also, our carpet had to be replaced and there's lots of small damage everywhere. The place is older obviously and these dents can be expected.
Location is the biggest plus about this place. The office staff is very friendly. Parking is pretty good, but at times can be a little scary due to the lack of lighting at night (psst, you can park illegaly and not get caught though).
The train thing is just something to use to, but it adds character. The biggest downfall of this apartment is the issue of questionable saftey. We had a mysterious brush fire that damaged our cars, break in with a stereo stolen, part of our bikes stolen, and some interesting looking people rummaging through the back bushes and garbages. Overall, I think that you are getting what you pay for. No apt. complex in Davis is probably worth what you're going to pay so, this is definately a smart choice.
