Our particular apartment stays very cool in the summer without AC being ran and the closets are great, but everything else sucks. When we signed the lease they verbally told us "everything we needed to know" however they did not tell us we would be paying for water/sewer/trash.This is around $70 a month and here's the fun part...You pay a percentage of the entire complex water usage, not what you actually use. So run the water all day, keep a hot bath ready at all times, you might as well. We had about 10 fix-it items when we moved in during July, so December they fixed it. Garbage disposal sucks. The walls are thin. The gardeners use the blowers next to the windows which triggers the fire alarms(yes all 3) plus puts dust and dirt inside(when the windows are open). Many of the sprinklers are broke and geyser up all over, causing flooding and you're paying for it. This is the only apartment who charges you for water you dont even know you're using. Also the billing people they use charge you $10 the first month and $3 each month for being a customer(meanwhile, the apt choose them and force you to use them). The billing people mail your bills out late and then charge you for late fees because you didnt mail them in time,30 day turn around time from the day they print them to the day they receive the payment.
Not worth it...

This person talks about how the management has some sort of billing program to pay your bills, for which you're charged a fee, and that if they mail things out late you get billed. I'm a resident and have no idea what they're talking about. I pay the management my rent, and pay my bills separately to the companies responsible.

The original poster is dead-on right. National Water and Power is the company that FPI Management uses to bill residents for water and sewer. They do not provide ANY service, they are ONLY middlemen. The racket is this: National Water and Power approaches the management of the complex and says, "hey, we want to make your residents pay for the water your complex uses. This means you can keep the rent the same on paper, but you won't have to pay the operating costs for water and sewer." The management says "hey that's great, we're making an extra $70/month on each resident, since that's how much we DON'T have to pay for water!" They sign on, and pay a fee to National Water and Power for the billing service.

Now, National Water and Power sends a bill to each resident in the complex for a percentage of the water bill. Let's say that the complex has 100 residents and racks up $7,000 per month in water bills. Each resident will have to pay a $70 water bill. National Water and Power then tacks on $3 each month as a "billing surcharge" that goes straight into their pockets. In the end, National Water and Power is getting money from the managers, money from the residents, and all they do is create these bills. Shadiest thing in the universe.

Yes you DO pay for water/sewage/trash!
I also had extra costs which I had not expected
You can find a much better apaprtment and management for the rent you're paying!
