Portage Bay Apts. was a great place to live. I was lucky enough to find it my first year in Davis and stayed until I left UC Davis. It's perfect for grad students because of the quiet and the great staff, who really care about the place. (I wish I was still there because my manager in Sacramento is rude and it would take an act of God to get anything fixed). The outside areas were nice (lots of grass and trees)and kept clean. Parking was very good. The bedrooms were a good size and I had no complaints about the inside. There are are newer places out there, but if the management is crappy, what good is it' If you are new to Davis, check Portage Bay out first and save yourself a headache.
