I have lived here for 2years. The place itself it's nice but... the management was terrible. Every summer I get my car jacked at least twice but no help from the manager. I also hates how every wednesday the labor workers would use a leaf blower right next to your window and even sometime peak inside the window. The walls are to thin you can hear everything your neighbor do or people from the parking lot talking.
Pros: Pretty place. Decent parking. Cat friendly environment. Rent price ok.
Cons:Manager pretends to be nice but is kinda racist even her assistant manager agreed.
Bug problem that crawl out of the carpet. Intentionally try to steals your deposit.
Lack of security. Thin walls. Loud maintenance, and to much of it. Once every 2 weeks they would come inside your place (twice they came in unannounced)

The manager is racist???? Where did this ridiculous bit of information come from? What a cheap shot. And then you post your comments as "anonymous." What a coward you are. And why don't you close your shades if you don't want the "labor workers" peaking in. The actual name for them are "landscapers" or "gardeners." I've lived here for 10 years and have never seen bugs crawling out of the carpet. I've been in the real estate business for a few years, though, and I have learned that bugs can crawl out of carpet when the tenants leave food and other kinds of messes all over the floor, like animal turd. I have also never had my car jacked, because I lock it, keep the windows rolled up, and don't leave valuables in it. I know that sometimes it still happens, but there isn't a whole lot an apartment manager can do. She's not Superwoman. She can report it to the police and warn the tenants, which is what she does, every time. Also, in all of my ten years here, management has never once come in unannounced. Not once. And what kind of proof do you have that the management tried to steal your deposit? If you had bugs crawling out of your carpet, then you definitely kept your apartment extremely filthy, and I'm sure that the management needed every dime of your deposit to clean the pig sty!!!
I have lived in Davis for 17 years and have lived in apartments with much thinner walls. The walls aren't bad here, and I've never heard much from my neighbors. If your neighbors were that loud, maybe you should've been knocking on their door and talking to them directly instead of blaming it on thin walls. Oh, but I forgot, you're a coward. And as far as security, there's a security service that patrols these grounds at night. I've seen them several times. I feel very safe here. It sounds like you've already moved out. Good riddance to bad rubbish!!!

Well then katlaydee28 seems like this rating concerns you, as a rating I'm free to rate to how I feel of it. For one, I don't wake up early, Wednesday is my weekend. Second, the "Landscapers" should be more professional.
Another things bugs came out from a crack wall due to bad construction not due to my cleaning when I'm PARTICULARY a clean person. No, I didh't have any cats, Would like to but NO TIME. The management did came in one time, to fix this problem but I see was he spray some powder around the area of the window. (The same bugs still showed up)
And what you think I'm some kinda of idiot not to lock my doors and keep my window up, only thing happen my car got ramsack, broken window, missing cds, (Yeah those were really valuable.) IF your car werent Jack how would you know she reported everytime. Out of 3 times my car got ramsacked only once it was reported. Also, if you look at the crime rate in police reports IT IS INDEED HIGHER IN THE SUMMER at Portage Bay, and QUOTED from the Officer who came in and investigate. As for the thin walls, No my neighbor are quite nice people. Only problem, you can hear what they do, phone ring, walking up the stairs, closing the bathroom door, rambling windows(not sure what they do to that), and etc.
Now katlaydee28, Excused me for your rambling, every tenant faces different responses and feelings, AND you shouldn't be putting words into people mouth when in fact you weren't there to proof anything. As far as me being "anonymous" is to keep my indenity safe from maybe crazy people like you. I had once a stalker because of similar event as this and for my safety and privacy, lets just keep it that way.

You are complaining because the management takes care of the lawn and maintains the apartment? I got all of my deposit back when I moved. You must have been horrible. I hope the management sues you for calling such a helpful, accommodating person a "racist". I agree with Katlaydee. You are a coward.

I don't agree with your opinion about my manager. She is so nice and helpful for my family. And I can't think that she is not a racist. This unit is clean and good for children and adults. You have to change your mind.

I am the assistant manager here at Portage Bay and I would have never said or agreed with anyone who said the manager is racist because she is not.
