Sharps is a place for students and young adults or those who do not mind noise and being around lots of students. Over the last year, the complex has underwent new ownership and management, and i think they are still working out the kinks. When the new management arrived, maintenance took a really long time to respond to our calls of a stolen fire extinguisher (i think this was a college prank, because our neighbor's was taken also), and a clogged bathtub drain. For the past few months, it has improved. my roomate's bathtub was clogged and they responded almost immediately. It is noisy here, but it didnt bother me and i expected it to be, being that many students lived here. We would stay here, but under the new ownership, they tried to raise our rent almost $400 for next year (my roomate had lived here for 3 years, so we got a rent break).
Car theft is also a problem here. My roomate parked on the street right outside the complex (on drew circle) one night and his car was gone the next day. I also know of another tenant whose car was stolen the previous year. Apparently, car theft is high in davis, so i am not sure if this is a problem of the complex's or the city in general.
The gym consists of 4 bikes, a stairmaster, and a weight station, so it meets basic needs. You get one covered parking space, but if you have more than one car, you will have trouble parking if you get home past 8 during the school year. during the summer, parking is not hard to find at all. The apartments are spacious and include modern stoves, refrigerators, and microwaves. I had a positive experience living at sharps, but also did not mind the noise at night, and worked out a system with my roomates regarding our reserved parking spot, so that the person who would come home last at night got the spot.
